More on my Theme Club idea

Thanks everyone for sharing your opinions through the comment form and the contact form when I initially shared my ideas of a theme club.
I am leaning towards a slightly different idea for the theme club.

How about letting people become a member to my WordPress Theme Shop by paying an annual fee?

This way, if someone wants only some themes from the shop, they would buy them individually and if they want to have access to all of the themes, then they would buy an annual membership.

Of course, As each of my theme is currently selling at about $24, I would have to price this membership fee to a minimum of $100 per year.

What do you think about such a move? Will it work? You think you would join? Please let me know.
Thanks.

I would not purchase that as it’s out of my price range, but I could see that as a better price point for turning a real profit. Just don’t do what happened with Small Potato. I think I lot of people got really frustrated with that situation.

    Dear Sadish:
The Theme Club idea is a winner !!!
The Template Monster Business Model (Worpress themes $50 per template) is not profitable, even with a BIG BRAND WEB DESIGN TEMPLATE POWERHOUSE like Template Monster.
For promising newcomers the best model is like DesignLoad, ThemeLayout, TemplateWorld, ThemeStock and BoxedArt.
Their price range is from $50-$120 per year.
The killer price for your club could be $50 per year. Of course, you have to give up your WordPress Theme Shop Business but the sales volume of the Theme Club are enough to make good profits for your designs.

    Thanks Patrick and Ma.Eugenia.
I know $100 would seem to be a large amount, that is why I am reluctant to start the club as of now.
I will keep the WordPress Theme Shop, so that any one who wants only one of the themes, can go ahead and buy that single theme.
If someone wants to buy more than 4 themes, they can join the club to get all of the available themes, instead of buying the themes individually.

    Sadish,
I think you should definitely have a shop. You have so many themes on older and other sites that I can’t ever find the latest and greatest and I would really like to find them all in one place.
I like the idea of the annual fee, although the price scares me. But if I was sure I was going to buy several I would consider it a bargain. I am not asking you to go down on the price. I have looked at other premium themes and some of them cost more than that just to be able to use one as a developer.
I know that I have used several of your themes, and I think they are great! I plan to stick to yours because I’m tired of checking out others and having them not work like I expect. That cuts down on productivity!
I would like a problem solved though, *grin* and this is HUGE and not something that goes with this subject… but can you figure out how to make the CSS print just like an old fashioned web page print? That would be so awesome. I know everyone says that it’s all about content, but it isn’t true – it’s all about everything. If looks didn’t matter on a web page we wouldnt’ try to make them pretty.
Having said that – I like very much that you include the ability to print very well for CSS powered web pages. Thank you for all your hard work.
