hello i have been searching the forum for some guidance on how to add sub menu pages to the horizontal menu bar....the site i am working on is located below:

    http://www.pcsinternacional.net/

The main goal to add the option that when someone hovers over a menu link on the horizontal menu bar that child/sub page links show up with same format as the parent/main horizontal menu bar.

If you don't mind using a bit of javascript, the multi-level navigation plugin ( http://pixopoint.com/multi-level-navigation ) may work for you. You can see it in action with Sadish's Green Flower theme at whollygiven.com . You may also want to look at the Tabber.js code at http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/tabber/ . Actually you can use one of each and have two rows of menus.

almost all of them uses javascript for displaying the sub menu.
It may not work consistently across different browsers. And some people use the browser with the javascript feature turned off. It's one of the reasons I don't bundle that feature into the theme.

    Thanks

Sadish, I know that people used to turn off javascript because of security fears.
But is that still true relative to desktop/laptop machines?
I understand that mobile devices and accessibility issues are to be considered; but, really, what % of my users will that involve? What is Web 2.0 if not AJAXified? And can't a well-written script degrade gracefully if javascript is unavailable?
Can you recommend some reading on this issue? Are there other issues that should be considered?

    Thanks
    Bob

You are right about the percentage of users that will have issues with it. You are also right about the graceful degrading if properly coded.

but I would definitely say that it will increase the number of support threads on this forum.
Most definitely it will be because of some weird browser setup / site set up, but people would still perceive it as an issue with the theme itself.

    Hi Sadish,

I'm using Blixed right now which is a great theme (nice & neat, great colors, etc.).

I've encountered some problems with the navigation (mainly in FF 3), which makes the sidebar drop down. Yes, I've read the possible solutions but none of them have worked.

However, as a workaround, I have now added the "multi-level navigation" plugin, which grants more flexibility. The only remaining issue for me now is, how can I use the "multii-level navigation" plugin to completely replace the existing (horizontal) navigation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You are basically on your own, for doing such modifications to the theme.
