I'm having problems with a custom header.

First I selected a jpg file from my hard drive and clicked upload. I got some error message about the folder wp-content/uploads/2007/06 having a parent that wasn't writable. Thing is there WERE no directories like those listed, only wp-content.

So I went to the server and created "uploads" and "2007" and "06" directories, nested as listed and made them writable. Then I went through the first process again: selected and uploaded the image, cropped the image, and then I was told it was successful.

Went to the home page and the old image was still there.

Looked back at the custom image header page and a note there says:

"This is your header image. You can change the text color or upload and crop a new image."

Underneath there is a blank white space.

Looked at the server, the image was not uploaded to the folder, the 06 folder was empty. So I uploaded it manually and went through the process again. Still no new image, the old image is still there. Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

This is more of an issue with file permissions. it is best addressed by your hosting provider.

I AM my hosting provider! :( The folder is chmod to 777.

    The image shows up here:

I set that up manually. But WP doesn't seem to pull it into the site. :/ Interestingly, even though the Custom Image Header tab shows a blank area, the default is still showing up. Shouldn't it be blank?

if that does not help, you can go to the img folder under your mistylook installation path, rename the misty.jpg and misty2.jpg to misty-backup.jpg and misty2-backup.jpg, upload your custom header image to that folder and rename it to misty.jpg, upload the same file again and rename it to misty2.jpg. see if it works for you.

    It's 755 as well, ellen.

    I only have a misty.jpg. No misty2.jpg. :/

Anyway, I did change the defaul pic name and used misty.jpg for my image. Worked like a charm.

    Thanks, ellen!

Sadish, if you figure out why it didn't work through the admin area, please let me know!

Bad news. *I* can see the image just fine. At least some of those who visit my site, just see a blank area. The Presentation>Custom Image Header area is also blank.

I just clicked "restore original header" and now the new header shows up in the admin area. I'll see if that works for my readers. For some reason they are all getting DIFFERENT views than I am. :/

This can not be explained in this forum. Please use the contact page at http://wprocks.com/contact/ to send an email. I would have to charge you for such work.
